Our Local charity

We are so excited to support a superb local charity. Mansfield wildlife centre is ran by a close knit group of family, friends and volunteers. When we went to visit, we were greeted by a bunch of friendly faces, some with wings! This charity, like many others, began as a passion project for helping animals in need. Throughout the years, this team has grown and the community has come together to support their efforts. Not only do they provide care for animals in need, they are protecting their home too. These guys bought the forest area around the centre, to support release and preserve the local wildlife. How cool is that?

During our visit, we saw a menagerie of creatures there. Some in active treatment, some rehabilitating... and some that have decided to stick around! The resident magpie is very keen to meet any visitors! From swans, fauns, dogs, cats, hedgehogs, pigeons and more. If a creature needs help, these guys will do their absolute best to provide the care they need. Mansfield wildlife centre also provides paddock space over the winter for people preserving rare breeds of British pigs, sheep and more. Winter season is their 'quiet' season, but that doesn't mean it's slow! Like most charities, these guys are bursting at the seams when it comes to work that needs to be done. Which is why we hope to support their upcoming projects...
Mansfield wildlife rescue is currently constructing new structures to house and treat animals. They do have a treatment room, with many climate controlled incubators and pens. Each incubating ICU unit costing upwards of £250! And they need a lot of units! Their current goal is to fund a new treatment building, with more room and incubators for recovery. General upkeep and maintenance of the property is a big cost too! These guys have already constructed a large pond which is now teaming with life. This supports any small water fowl releases and provides a home for wildlife, and they are looking to create another one soon too!

Their efforts don't just stop at aniamals though! Whilst we were visiting, we saw many students volunteering for work experience. This charity also supports multiple other charities and efforts, welcoming regulars who want to help out or just simply hang out in the café with some company. Examples of these charities include elderly, LGBTQ+ and disables adults / youth charities and recovery centres. Mansfield wildlife rescue hosts a few artisan markets too, encouraging local artists and businesses to sell their wares. During spring and summer, you can visit their café too! It wasn't open for our visit, but you can bet we will be back to sample their cakes!
It's our most humble pleasure to support such a diverse charity, ran by a very dedicated, down to earth team. If you are in the Mansfield area, we encourage you to visit once their cafe opens! Mansfield wildlife rescue has stated they are so grateful to any amount raised by Core Element. They do wish to attend the event, but cannot promise an appearance due to how busy they are during August. Which is very understandable! We will be accepting donations for both of our charities at the bar, on dedicated card machines.
Our national charity

At Core Element, we’re really proud to be supporting MindOut, an incredible charity run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) people. They work tirelessly to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community here in the UK. Mindout curates welcoming, safe and accepting spaces for people of all identities. This includes people who may be questioning, asexual, non-binary, intersex, genderfluid and much more. Spaces like these are so important for the community as a whole. It is essential we support charities like Mindout, that facilitate a place where people can feel safe and also receive professional support. They are also welcoming of people who may not identify as LGBTQ+, but are part of the community and different ways.

We will be fundraising throughout the festival for Mindout! As well as attendee donations, we will be making a donation ourselves. Every contribution will help them continue the amazing work they do here in the UK.
